Experiencing issues from missing natural teeth?

Personalised Dental Implants in Surrey 2

If you have experienced tooth loss, it can have a significant impact on various aspects of your life. Difficulties with chewing, speaking, and smiling may arise, along with issues such as bone loss, tooth shifting, and a diminished quality of life.

Neglecting to address missing teeth can lead to further dental complications like gum disease, tooth decay, and a decline in jawbone density and facial structure. Moreover, the emotional toll should not be underestimated, as it can cause self-consciousness, social challenges, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

Dental implants could be for you

Dental implants offer a long-lasting and effective solution to the problems associated with missing teeth. They provide a permanent replacement that functions and looks like natural teeth. With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime, restoring both your oral health and overall well-being!

Key benefits of dental implants

Experience the numerous benefits that dental implants offer compared to other tooth replacement options. Here are six key advantages of dental implants:

  1. Enhanced appearance: Dental implants are meticulously crafted to seamlessly blend with your natural teeth, providing an aesthetically pleasing smile that boosts your self-confidence.
  2. Clearer speech: With their secure integration into the jawbone, dental implants eliminate concerns of dentures shifting, enabling you to speak clearly and confidently.
  3. Greater comfort: As a permanent solution, dental implants eliminate the need for adhesives or additional products, ensuring a comfortable fit without any discomfort or inconvenience.
  4. Improved ability to eat: Dental implants function like natural teeth, allowing you to savour your favourite foods without worrying about slippage or instability. This enhances your nutritional intake and overall enjoyment of meals.
  5. Better oral health: Unlike bridges that require altering adjacent teeth, dental implants preserve the integrity of your remaining natural teeth, promoting oral health and preventing potential issues associated with altering healthy teeth.
  6. Durability: With proper care, dental implants can provide a long-lasting tooth replacement solution, potentially lasting for many years, if not a lifetime. This durability makes them a cost-effective investment compared to other alternatives.

Treatment options

We offer various types of dental implants and treatment options, customised to cater to individual needs:

How much do dental implants cost

At Excellence In Dentistry, we pride ourselves on providing top-tier dental solutions, including Dental Implants. The starting price for dental implants is £3,400 per tooth. Nevertheless, it’s crucial to emphasise that this cost can vary widely. Most crucial factors influencing the price include the complexity of the individual’s dental needs and the specific materials used. For a bespoke estimate and to understand the full scope of potential costs, we always recommend arranging a consultation with us.

Who will do it

At Excellence in Dentistry dental practice, dental implant surgery will be performed by a qualified and experienced implantologist. These dental professionals have specialised training and expertise in performing implant surgery, and they will work closely with the rest of the dental team to ensure that each patient receives the highest quality care and treatment.

Depending on the complexity of the case, the dental implant surgery may involve multiple steps and require several appointments, and the dental team will provide detailed instructions and guidance throughout the process to ensure that the patient is comfortable and well-informed.

The procedure

Structure of a dental implant - Excellence In Dentistry

The dental implant procedure is a multi-step process that involves several stages. Here is a general overview of the steps involved in getting dental implants:

  1. Consultation and examination: The first step in the dental implant procedure is to consult with our dentist or oral surgeon who specializes in dental implants. We will examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants.
  2. Treatment planning: If you are a good candidate for dental implants, our dentist will create a treatment plan that outlines the number of implants needed, the type of implant, and the location of the implants.
  3. Implant placement: The next step in the dental implant procedure is the placement of the implant into the jawbone. This involves a minor surgical procedure in which the implant is inserted into the bone and left to heal for several months.
  4. Osseointegration and Healing: After the implant placement, a process called osseointegration takes place. Osseointegration is the natural biological process where the implant fixture fuses with the surrounding bone tissue. This integration provides a stable and solid foundation for the prosthetic tooth. The duration of osseointegration can vary from a few weeks to several months, depending on factors such as bone quality and individual healing capabilities. During this healing period, it is essential to follow proper oral hygiene practices and any post-operative instructions provided by our dental professional to ensure successful osseointegration.
  5. Abutment and restoration placement: After the implant has fused with the jawbone, a small connector called an abutment is placed on top of the implant. This allows the replacement tooth to be attached to the implant. Then, the final step in the dental implant procedure is the placement of the placement restoration tooth or teeth. This may involve attaching a single crown, a bridge, or a denture to the implants.
  6. Follow-up care: After the procedure, you will need to attend follow-up appointments with our dentist to monitor the healing process and ensure that the implants are functioning properly. The dental implant procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia, and most patients experience little to no pain during the procedure. It is important to follow our dentist’s instructions for aftercare to ensure that the implants heal properly and last for many years.

Aftercare

After getting dental implants, it is important to follow proper aftercare instructions to ensure that the implants heal properly and last for many years. Here are some tips for dental implant aftercare:

  1. Follow our dentist’s instructions: Our dentist will provide you with specific instructions on how to care for your dental implants after the procedure. It is important to follow these instructions carefully to ensure that the implants heal properly.
  2. Maintain good oral hygiene: Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss daily to remove plaque and food particles that can cause infection or inflammation around the implant.
  3. Avoid hard or sticky foods: For the first few weeks after getting dental implants, avoid hard or sticky foods that can put pressure on the implants and prevent them from healing properly.
  4. Don’t smoke or use tobacco: Smoking can slow down the healing process and increase the risk of implant failure. If you smoke, talk to us about ways to quit before getting dental implants.
  5. Attend follow-up appointments: Our dentist will schedule follow-up appointments to check on the healing process and make sure that the implants are functioning properly. It is important to attend these appointments and report any issues or concerns to our dentist.
  6. Use a mouthguard: If you play sports or grind your teeth at night, wear a mouthguard to protect your dental implants and prevent damage.

Proper aftercare is essential for the success of dental implants. By following these tips and staying in close communication with us, you can ensure that your implants heal properly and provide you with a strong, natural-looking smile for many years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone get dental implants?

In general, dental implant treatment is a viable option for the majority of healthy individuals who maintain good oral health. However, it is essential to undergo a comprehensive dental evaluation with us to determine your specific suitability for the procedure. This evaluation involves a thorough assessment of various factors that can influence the success and longevity of dental implants.

Can smokers get dental implants?

While smoking can heighten the likelihood of complications and impede the healing process, individuals who smoke can still undergo dental implant placement. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended to either quit smoking entirely or minimize smoking to enhance the prospects of successful implant integration.

Are dental Implants painful?

Dental implant treatment is typically no more painful than having a tooth extracted.

To further enhance your experience, we utilize advanced techniques, such as creating a personalised surgical guide from your CT cone beam scan. This innovative approach allows us to precisely place implants through a small punch hole, similar to keyhole surgery.

As a result, the treatment is virtually painless, minimizing any discomfort you may have. Trust in our expertise and experience a dental implant journey that prioritizes your well-being.

Should I consult my dentist for tooth extraction before discussing implants with you?

To ensure optimal results for your implant procedure, it’s advisable to schedule an appointment with us at the earliest convenience. If a tooth extraction is necessary before the implant placement, it is crucial to delicately remove the tooth to preserve your own bone. While it’s ideal for your dentist to be experienced in tooth extractions prior to implants, if they lack expertise in this area, it may be preferable to have both the tooth extraction and implant placement performed at our surgery.

What are implants made from?

Implants are dental fixtures typically constructed from a biocompatible material called titanium. This choice of material is not arbitrary but rather based on titanium’s remarkable properties and its exceptional compatibility with the human body. When an implant is placed into the jawbone, a fascinating process called osseointegration takes place.

Bone possesses a remarkable ability to bond with titanium, a phenomenon known as its natural affinity for this material. The titanium surface of the implant attracts and encourages bone cells to adhere to it, triggering the growth of new bone tissue. Over time, this integration becomes even stronger, with the bone effectively enveloping the implant and incorporating it as part of its own structure.

The remarkable osseointegration process ensures that the implant becomes a stable and reliable foundation for various dental restorations, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. It provides the necessary strength and durability for these restorations to function just like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

Thanks to the natural affinity between titanium and bone, dental implants offer long-term stability and exceptional functional benefits. They become a seamless part of your oral anatomy, mimicking the strength and functionality of natural teeth.

Will I be without teeth during the implant process?

Our dentist offers temporary tooth replacements, such as removable dentures or temporary crowns, during the healing period after your dental implant procedure. These temporary solutions ensure that you don’t have to go without teeth, providing both aesthetics and functionality. They are designed to resemble your natural teeth and gums, allowing you to maintain your smile’s appearance and perform essential oral functions like chewing and speaking. Our dentist will help you choose the most suitable option to ensure your comfort and confidence throughout the healing process.

How long is the recovery period after dental implants?

After undergoing dental implant surgery, the initial recovery period usually spans a few days, during which you may encounter temporary swelling and discomfort. The complete healing and osseointegration process can extend over several months, allowing the implant to firmly integrate with the jawbone.

Is there an age limit for dental implant treatment?

Dental implant treatment is not restricted by a strict age limit, as it is primarily dependent on the individual’s oral health and suitability for the procedure rather than their chronological age. As long as you maintain good oral health and have a healthy jawbone with adequate bone density, dental implants can be considered at any age.

Factors such as gum health, overall systemic health, and the ability to undergo necessary dental procedures, like bone grafting if required, are also taken into account during the evaluation process.

Therefore, regardless of your age, if you meet the necessary criteria and have a healthy oral foundation, dental implants can be a viable solution to restore your missing teeth and enhance your oral well-being.

Have been coming to this practice for years, despite it being a good long drive. Initially I had concerns when Andre handed the reigns over, but these concerns proved unfounded as the team continued to be just as kind, caring and attentive as always. Any dental work is always carried out thoroughly and diligently and I always leave feeling like nothing has been missed or rushed. In addition, the practice uses ‘the wand’ for anaesthesia, a barely noticeable and ultra fine needle that administers slowly and without much discomfort. As someone who has a fear of needles this has helped hugely. I often struggle with tooth sensitivity so the hygienist visit is always something I dread, but Agota’s reassuring and patient attitude makes things go much more smoothly. Honestly can’t recommend them highly enough.

Highly recommend. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. It’s not local to me but I travel here because it’s worth it. The care here is truly excellent. I was worried when Andre retired but Keelin is every bit as good and so I will continue to come here.
